An interdisciplinary dance in collaboration with Musician Didi Wyss. This piece began to gestate during my Emergent Artist Residency at Centrum this past October. The story is about my encounter with a heron on the Salish Sea that evolved into a reflective piece on what I have inherited as a second generation immigrant. Through song, dance and ritual I play characters to embody their signature. With a strong presence of Saturnial energy, the gold kurta the character Elder wears was altered by my grandmother Nasra & the heron’s wings and cardamom shirt I designed and sewed. Woven into the soundscapes are piano compositions of mine, alongside recordings of my dad’s voice. The live song is an original composition of mine, translated from Spanish to Urdu with the help of my Phupho and set to a new melody, reworked in collaboration with sound artist Didi Wyss. roots transplanted overtime, names slowly shifted to fit in the mouth of english,Assalam o Alaikum, remember us,sophia tvedt sanori, great granddaughter of stargazers & land tenders, remember our prayers in song, our medicine, cardamom & fennel, Assalam o Alaikum, remember the curves in the land of five rivers,  hot afternoons, chai, chai & more chai,Assalam o Alaikum, piano fingers, dewy mist from the sea, re member ~ sophia tweed ahmad Shaking the Tree Theatre  Open Space Residency ///// July 2026  40 min  inseparables (duet) https://sophiatweedahmad.com/inseparables-duet Mon, 17 Aug 2026 18:18:43 +0000 sophia tweed ahmad https://sophiatweedahmad.com/inseparables-duet <img width="1210" height="807" width_o="1210" height_o="807" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/abbb45b57df2eb9c1f7e8e943c6d2e79c6243e6e9045d59d91327031e598f4b0/250626-Alembic-48.jpg" data-mid="251326319" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/abbb45b57df2eb9c1f7e8e943c6d2e79c6243e6e9045d59d91327031e598f4b0/250626-Alembic-48.jpg" />                                                     photography by chelsea petrakisInseparables (Duet)  is an interdisciplinary duet tuning fragmented identities, bloodlines & roots. This creation is rooted in dialogue with receiving knowledge through dreaming, contemplating her lineage of diasporic movement from pakistan & ushering a resurgence of self-identification. Ritualized through a personal mantra, the voice bathes the public with the intent of catharsis & communion.     Strip Art Festival   Choreoscope Dance Film Festival  La Pesta Exhibition    2023  25 mins links https://sophiatweedahmad.com/links Mon, 17 Aug 2026 18:18:43 +0000 sophia tweed ahmad https://sophiatweedahmad.com/links   Choreographic Work •••Of Feather and Bone GOOD GAME Inseparables (Duet) Inseparables Experiments in Sleepflight  Did you think you were alone?   Past Residencies ••• Shaking the Tree Theatre — Portland, ORCentrum Residency — Port Townsend, WA Performance Works NW  — Portland, OR   Paleohori — Lefkada, GRAFAB en Gràcia x Laila Nabulsi —  Barcelona, ESMovimiento Factory  —  Barcelona, ESATAEC x Tèxtil Rase Fàbrica de Cultura — Cardedeu, ESNew Expressive Works  — Portland, ORShaun Keylock Dance — Portland, OR
