SOPHIA TWEED AHMAD
is a Pakistani American choreographer & movement artist who thrives on being inverted, accompanied by singing & preferably in nature. Over the years she has been exploring the intersections of identity, ancestry and the voice. Her movement training stems contemporary dance, contact improvisation & capoeira.
As a non traditional artist, she completed her first professional dance program at the age of 26 studying Contemporary Dance & Creation at Area Dansa in Spain (22-23). She holds a B.A. in International Studies + Environmental Studies from UNCA (14-18).
Her choreography has been presented by Ten Tiny Dances, Performance Works NW, Stripart Festival & Choreoscope Dance Film Festival.
Find her at capoeira rodas, teaching soft acrobatics, attending contact jams, filming site-specific dances and working with multicultural youth.
